Product Description
Theme: Alea Iacta Est is a dice game set in Rome where each player is attempting to become Caesar by collecting the fame and renown of the populace. In Alea Iacta Est, you will need to do so by allocating your influence correctly among the various buildings and senators of Rome.
Gameplay: In Alea Iacta Est, each player rolls and allocates eight dice among five buildings to gain the most fame points they can.
The five buildings - the Castrume, Forum Romanum, Senatus, Templum and Latrina each provide different bonuses throughout the game.
In the Castrum; players can conquer new provinces, while patricians are recruited in the Forum Romanum. The Senate provides the valuable support of the Senators (via cards with variable secret bonuses) and the Templum awards prestige points directly from the Goddess Fortuna.
Lastly, dice that are not able to win points directly for the players in any of the above buildings are discarded to the Latrina where they provide players the ability to re-roll dice the next turn or which can be traded in two-to-one for prestige points at the end of the game. Each building has special rules as to how the dice can be placed, allowing many tactical possibilities with any roll of the dice.
In Alea Iacta Est, each round ends when one player has placed his/her last die, and after 5 rounds (6 rounds with 2-3 players), the patricians are organized in their provinces, the senate cards are revealed, and the scores are totaled. The player with the most prestige points wins!
