Theme: In Android the board game, players are detectives in the city of New Angeles and the moon colony Heinlein. They are chasing down leads in an attempt to solve a murder and piece together the conspiracy that hangs over them all.
Unlike other straight detective games, in Android the detectives all have personal lives that will influence their actions. Events will occur, driving them towards their inner demons and their darker side, and you will have to balance your personal problems with the solution to the case.
Android’s innovative mechanics ensure that no two detectives play alike. Will you play as Louis Blaine, the crooked cop tormented by guilt and loss? Or will you take the role of Caprice Nisei, the psychic clone who struggles to retain her sanity while proving that she’s as human as anyone else? Whoever you choose to play, you’ve got just two weeks to solve the murder, uncover the conspiracy, and face your personal demons. Better get moving, detective.
Gameplay: In Android, a murder has occurred and you have two weeks to solve it as one of the detectives on the case. You can either solve the mystery or just get as many victory points as you can by collecting evidence to place on the suspects, attempting to prove that the suspect you have a "hunch" about is indeed guilty. You could instead try to complete the "conspiracy puzzle," determining links between the murder and, say, a political figure. Or you could focus on your own personal agenda and follow the guidelines of your plot card to try and find a "good ending."
