Theme : Arkadia is a game of city and castle building. Players are architects competing to finish jobs for one of four wealthy families who are building the city and the castle for reasons of prestige. You will need to decide on which buildings to complete and what parts of the castle to do, and when, to win this game. A great game that combines strategy and luck very well, Arkadia is fun and easy to learn and teach.
Gameplay : Arkadia requires players to take on the role of architects in the realm of Arkadia, competing against one another to finish jobs for one of four wealthy families - the cloth or spice merchants, the carpenters or the silversmiths. As each building is completed, players score tokens that can be turned in for gold but must be careful. They can only turn in the tokens four times, and the worth of each token depends on what portion of the castle has been built.
Arkadia has no specific turn ending the game - the castle which is being built is also the timer for the end game. When the castle in Arkadia is complete, the game ends, which creates an additional strategic tension throughout the game as players attempt to maximise the timing of the end game to their benefit.
