Basari

Theme : In Basari the board game, players must compete as merchants to get precious gemstones to market ahead of others. Points may be gained directly, through having the most gemstones of a certain type or by finishing a round. With only three rounds, Basari is fast to finish but hard to put down as players compete, out-think and haggle with one another to be the richest in town.

Gameplay : In Basari players take on the role of gem merchants attempting to collect as many gems as possible. A mixture of a racing game and a negotiation / trading game, players in Basari must carefully decide what actions to take each round as they move across the board.

Initially, players in Basari are provided 3 gems of each colour (there are four colours (red, yellow, green and blue of varying points) and a merchant piece. They may then decide on their starting location on any one of the 28 starting archways on the board.

Each turn, players roll a die for movement and then take an action. There are three action choices - Gemstone, Points and Die actions. If 3 (or all) players decide one one action, that action is invalidated and the movement phase begins. If only 2 players choose an action, they must bargain among one another to decide who takes that specific action.

The Gemstone action provides Gems according to the archway the player is on, the Points action provides points directly to the Victory Point score as according to the archway and the Die action allows players to roll a die to move their figure again, adding 6 - die roll points to the scoring track as well.

A round ends in Basari when a player completes a full lap around the board, passing his starting market (and location) again. At the end of the turn, all players who completed one lap gain an additional 10 victory points and points are scored for players who have the most of each type of gem.

Play in Basari continues for three (3) rounds, with the player with the most Victory Points at the end of the game being the victor. With multiple ways to gain points in Basari, Basari is a multi-faceted board game that is easy to learn and fast to play.
