Product Description
Theme : In Bohnanza, players take on the role of bean farmers. Yes, that's right, bean farming! Players trade cards with one another to get the best deal possible for their beans. A great game for multi-player's, as a trading based game it adds a high level of interaction. A definite favorite for those who like interaction and fast paced games.
The Rio Grande Version sold on the site includes the German first expansion to allow up to 7 players and also provides rules for 2 player games.
Gameplay : In Bohnanza, players start with 5 cards. However, you are not allowed to re-order the cards in your hand, forcing you to plant the beans as they come up. Players also start with 2 bean fields which may only hold 1 bean type.
At the beginning of each turn, a player must 'plant' one of his cards into a field. If the bean planted is not similar to his current field's, he must 'sell' the beans for a variable amount of gold (depending on the number of beans planted). At this point, he may decide to 'plant' one more card.
After planting the first two cards in Bohnanza, the player must then draw two additional cards from the deck and he must plant them. He can, however, trade these bean cards or donate them to another player (who must plant them); along with any cards from his hand. This is where the large part of negotiation and trading for the game comes into play, with the interaction and wheedling necessary to create a "run" of good cards in their hand.
