Theme: In Citadels you must choose your roles wisely to build the largest and most magnificent city in all the lands. Each turn, you can only control one member of the city in your quest to build the greatest Citadel, but care must be taken as the other players are out to thwart you.
With the ability to play anywhere from 2 to 7 players and game rules that are simple to learn, Citadels is able to fit any size group and experience level.
This version includes the Dark City expansion
Gameplay: In Citadels, players take turns to choose one of eight roles - assassin, thief, magician, king, bishop, merchant, architect and warlord. You then collect gold or building cards and construct any building you can afford, activating the special ability of your character at any time.
Complications and the need for strategy comes in as each role has a special ability and the city you will build will work in conjunction with these abiltiies. However, your opponents can and will affect your role choices, forcing you to be careful about who you choose to influence each turn.
At the end of the game, the player with the greatest city at the end of the game is the victor.
