Product Description
Theme : Conquest of Paradise focuses on the "Polynesian Triangle" during a riveting stage of humanity's exploration of the world. As a tribe of Polynesian explorers, players build an empire in the Central Pacific Ocean, discovering lucrative island groups and conquering them. You will need to balance both exploration of the world around you with building your warriors and developing your culture with the well known historical resource limitations of the Polynesian islands. A great game for those into fast playing games of exploration and development.
Gameplay : Conquest of Paradise uses a unique theme of island hopping and control of these islands in the Polynesian triangle, players must strive to grow the largest empire possible.
Play begins on a game board with some geographically accurate islands printed on it. However, to emphasize the discovery and exploration aspect of Conquest of Paradise, many other islands are waiting to be found on hex based tiles that are drawn each turn by players during the exploration phase. Along with this, each new hex drawn provides a number of knots ranging from 0 to 3 knots, with players drawing more than 5 knots losing their exploration phase the next turn.
In Conquest, players must balance development of their villages and exploration with the development of war canoes and warriors. The ability to launch both and take over the other islands of players is a major aspect of the game, along with the addition of specific Arts and Culture cards during the game that can provide both victory points and bonuses during battle.
Lastly, Conquest of Paradise does hold additional 'advanced' rules for players who are looking for a more involved development game.
