Theme: In Days of Steam players place track and cities, create routes, and deliver goods through their city. Days of Steam is a gateway level pick up and deliver train game that combines aspects of Carcassonne and Age of Steam.
Gameplay: In Days of Steam, players can choose one of three actions - play a tile, move your train or play a town tile. Players must build the routes between towns to allow them to deliver goods. However, to move they need to build up steam, which requires spending a turn to do so. Corners and mountains require additional steam to take, but going too fast can derail a train as well.
In Days of Steam, points are awarded to players who deliver goods and bonus points for multiple types of goods delivered. In addition, points are also awarded for completed circuits between towns. This game requires careful management of steam to move your train as well as hand management to thwart other players as well as enable your own route building.
