Doom: The Board Game

Theme : Doom: the Board game is the tabletop version of the famous computer game and now motion picture. As Marines, players explore the base, battling the creatures from Hell at the control of the Monster player. Using everything from the BFG to rocket launchers and the faithful chainsaw, players must survive the horrors thrown at them to win the game against the invader commander.

Gameplay : In Doom, players move across the mutable board controlling a variety of Marines to complete their objectives. Each scenario is different, with different end game requirements, but for certain there will be a lot of monsters in the way.

Each Marine in Doom has a special power or three (depending on rules used) as well as the ability to carry a variety of equipment including rocket launchers and grenades.

In turn, the Invader commander controls and set's-up the board, using a command deck to dictate the potential options he has as well as the ability to spawn monsters and launch special events at the hapless Marines.

The Marines will progress through the base, finding new equipment to upgrade themselves while the Invader commander attempts to stop them from reaching their objective. Dice is resolved in Doom using a series of specialised combat dice that vary for weapon to weapon (or monster to monster).

Overall, Doom the Board Game is a great dungeon crawl game that is set on Mars and varies the theme from adventurers to Marines and a science-fiction universe. Great for those fans of Doom or those looking for a change of pace in Dungeon crawls.
