Product Description
Theme: In Ghost Stories, many years have passed since Wu-Feng, Lord of the Nine Hells was destroyed. The funerary urn housing his ashes was buried in the cemetery of a village in the Middle Empire.
Years have passed, and the cursed legacy has been forgotten by the living. Hidden away in Hell, Wu-Feng has forgotten nothing. His incessant research allowed him to locate the receptacle. The shadow of his former incarnation already extends to the villagers, who are unaware of the danger threatening them.
Fortunately, the Fat-Si (Taoist priests) keep watch, guarding the border between the dead and the living. Armed with their courage, their faith, and their powers, they will try to return the reincarnation of Wu-Feng to Hell.
Gameplay: Ghost Stories is a cooperative game. The players play as a team against the gameboard. Either they share a common victory, or suffer the same defeat. Ghost Stories provides 4 levels of difficulty: Initiation, Normal, Nightmare, and Hell.
There are two phases in each round. In the Yin Phase, the ghosts are active and act to haunt or terrorise the village. In the Yang phase, the Taoist priest are free to act, working with the villagers (represented by tiles in the original game) or exorcising the ghosts from the village themselves.
There is one way to win Ghost Stories and several ways to lose. The players win by surviving until they encounter and defeat all Wu Feng cards in the ghost deck, the last of which is always the 11th from the bottom. They can lose from either all being killed (losing all their Qi), having the deck run out before sending Wu Feng back to hell, or by having 3 or 4 village tiles become haunted (based on difficulty).
