Theme : In If Wishes Were Fishes, players are fishermen who are out to get the best catch possible. You will have to decide which fish to catch, to keep and sell and which to release as these fish are magical and can grant wishes. At the end of the game, the player who has managed to balance his fish catching and his sales will win.
Gameplay: If Wishes were Fishes is a light card drafting game with a very basic fishing theme.
Gameplay for If Wishes Were Fishes is relatively intuitive. Each turn, you can either catch a fish or sell one you have already caught. The selling action allows players to trade a card in for points and money, the amount dependent upon the stall and number of dealers there.
To catch a fish though, players can choose from one of four cards on the table. However, to 'catch' the deepest fish (the one furthest away from shore), you will need to place a worm on each preceding fish. Players who take a fish card also take all the worms on it.
As the title states, the Fish available in If Wishes Were Fishes are magical, allowing you to either keep the fish to sell or to release a fish and have the wish granted. Wishes help you sell fish more efficiently, from moving meeples on the board to granting multiple sales.
The game ends either when the fourth market closes, or when the garbage heap is full, and if the garbage heap is full, the players with the first and second most fish in it lose money.
