Ilium

Theme : In Ilium, ancient Troy (aka Ilium) has been discovered by archeologist Heinrich Schliemann and artifact collectors from around the world are now looking for their share. As one of the artifact collectors, players will move from one dig site to another to retrieve the best artifacts possible.

Careful planning and timing are necessary Ilium as the deeper you go, the more valuable the items are. Wait too long though and other players will have taken the rest of the goods.

Gameplay : In Ilium, the board shows a number of dig sites with paths of different lengths connecting the sites.

At the beginning of Ilium, discovery tiles are placed on each site location equal to the paths shown. Each tile has one to five artifact on it, with 5 types available in the game.

Each player now takes turns filling up the paths to each dig site, with a card drawn from his own deck indicating the number of archeologists he may play on that tile. Once a path is filled, the player with the most tiles gets to collect one tile from one of the adjacent dig sites.

However, in Ilium, in each site he may choose only the tile with the fewest artifacts; the player with the second most artifacts takes the tile that the first player didn’t. As the dig sites empty, the more valuable tiles can be claimed.

Ilium ends after all five tiles with five artifacts on them have been claimed. Each player was dealt a secret card at the start of the game representing one of the types of artifacts, and players must now discard the tile of that type that contains the most artifacts. The player who ends up with the most complete sets wins the game."
