Theme : In Swahili, Jambo is the often used greeting that occurred before the arrival of the colonists. In Jambo, players take on the role of friendly merchants in Central Africa competing to sell tea, hide, fruits, salt, silk, and trinkets to be the first to make 60 gold.
Gameplay : Jambo is a game of merchants and business management. Players are competing merchants, attempting to buy and sell goods to become the richest in the town.
In Jambo, each turn, players have up to 5 actions to take, with each action allowing a player to draw cards, play cards and activate various item cards that are already played.
Good cards drawn form the deck depict a specific number of goods that can be bought or sold for gold. Goods can only be bought or sold as specified in the good deck, forcing players to attempt to collect goods of a certain order. To make things more complicated in Jambo, initially, players only have 6 spaces on their table, with the ability to purchase smaller tables (3 spaces each) later in the game through cards drawn.
Item cards and other village inhabitants help merchants to attract customers, make bargain buys and mess with other merchants while there are additional special cards including animals that can affect other players.
Overall, Jambo is a fun business game that is easy to learn, fast and interesting to play.
