Theme : In Mission: Red Planet, players are corporations who are looking to colonise and develop Mars as quickly as possible. As players, you will need to both populate the ships as well as develop the resources on the Red Planet before others.
Gameplay : Mission : Red Planet is a game about colonizing Mars with shuttles from Earth and a strong steampunk theme.
In Mission: Red Planet, each player begins the game with 9 roles available to them. Each turn, spaceships are placed on the launch pad, awaiting their passengers. Players simultaneously use their role cards, each role resolved in a specific order to fill up the space ships. In addition, each role card has a special ability that will affect the game in different ways. Each role card, after use is discarded, forcing players to choose carefully which roles to use at different points of the game.
When an astronaut first reaches a region on Mars, a scoring token is placed. At the end of round 5, 8 and 10 the player with the most astronauts in each region receives scoring tokens with the number of tokes received increasing in each scoring round. Ties leave tokens on the board for pick-up in the next scoring round.
Mission: Red Planet is an interesting game of role selection and development that plays fast and is suitable for a wide range of family gatherings and board game enthusiasts.
