Theme : Pandemic: On the Brink is an expansion on the award winning, highly popular co-operative game Pandemic.
Pandemic : On the Brink will add new roles, new variants, and new diseases to the game. New roles in the expansion include the Archivist, The Generalist and the Bio-Terrorist.
Variants included in the expansion are mutations, rules for a fifth (5th) player and new special events. In addition, a fifth (5th) disease can be added to the game under some variants.
Finally, ZMan Games will be supplying petri dishes in Pandemic : On the Brink to hold the disease cubes with stickers so people can name their own diseases.
ZMan Games also plans to make the pawns smaller and they will include a full deck of cards from the recent editions of Pandemic so that people who have the first two printings can use these new expansion cards without any issues.
Gameplay: Pandemic : On the Brink includes new event cards, new role cards, rules for five players, and optional game challenges to increase the difficulty, such as the 'Legendary' difficulty level, the Virulent Strain challenge, the Mutation challenge, and the Bio-Terrorist challenge. These challenges can be mixed together to make the game even harder.
In the Virulent Strain challenge, one disease become particularly deadly in unpredictable ways.
The Mutation Challenge of Pandemic : On the Brink adds a fifth (purple) disease that behaves differently from the original four.
And lastly, the Bio-Terrorist Challenge pits one player against the others!
Lastly, in Pandemic on the Brink, you may also play with 5 players and play on Legendary level!
