Pandemic (2013 Edition)

Theme : A Pandemic has broken out and as a member of the Center for Disease Control, you will need to find a cure before it gets out of hand! A truly cooperative, tension-filled game where all players represent members of a team of experts that must find the cures to four virulent diseases before they wipe out the world's population.

This is the 2013 edition of Pandemic which features a complete visual redesign for the game's 5th Anniversary, as well as 2 new roles. For players who have an older edition of expansion On the Brink or are looking to combine an older copy of Pandemic with a new edition of the expansion, publisher Z-Man Games will be releasing compatibility packs for updating your game later in 2013 (price and release date TBD).

Gameplay : In Pandemic, players take on one of five different specialist roles (scientist, medic, researcher, dispatcher and operations expert) at the CDC/Atlanta where you watch several virulent diseases break out simultaneously all over the world. The team mission is to prevent a world-wide pandemic outbreak, treating hotspots while researching cures for each of the four plagues before they get out of hand.

In Pandemic, players must plan their strategy to integrate their specialist's strengths together to control and cure the diseases. For example, the Operations Specialist can build research stations which are needed to find cures for the diseases; the Scientist needs only 4 cards of a particular disease to cure it instead of the normal 5. However, the diseases are breaking out fast and time is running out. The team must try to stem the tide of infection in diseased areas while developing cures. If disease spreads uncontrolled, the players all lose. If they can cure all four diseases, they have defeated the Pandemic and win the game.
