Product Description
Theme: The Republic of Rome is the classic board game that simulates over 250 years of Roman history. It begins during the Republic's initial formation and continues through what would eventually be it's fall by the eponymous 'barbarian's at the gate'
In Republic of Rome, players are Roman Senators who must weight their personal advancement with the strength of Rome. Every turn, their actions and events develop and change the political environment in which they are competing, making the Republic of Rome a new game each time you play it.
Gameplay: In the Republic of Rome, the players are in control of the various factions of the Roman Senate. As one of the powerful families of Ancient Rome, they need to compete for state offices, military command, economic concessions for their families and new adherents. To win; the player must get their faction to become the most powerful in Rome through the 250 years of the game's history.
The Republic of Rome is set in a hostile world though, with barbarians and plagues. They need to make sure that Rome lasts - because if it doesn't, all players will lose.
The Republic of Rome contains three scenarios which divide the color-coded cards into decks simulating the Early, Middle, and Late Republic. Those wishing a larger game can combine them into a Campaign Game of truly epic proportions. A solitaire and two-player version are also included for those unable to muster more players.
This new version contains all new artwork by Kurt Miller, Mark Poole and Patrick Turner and re-written rules by John Rodriguez meant to address and clarify all previous errata. This is a 1 – 6 player game with a playing time of approximately 3 – 5 hours.
