Battlefields of Olympus is a two player strategy card game that is an easy game to teach and learn.

Two players take 4 cards into their hands. The cards are a mixture of warrior cards and action cards. These cards are used to battle over Land Trophy cards which are the key to Victory. Once a battle starts you are stuck with the cards in your hand or reserve deck to fight the battle and refresh your hand slowly after that. This makes the decision to play cards a bit more meaningful since you can only gain one card per turn.

Certain Warrior cards are stronger then others but each one has a unique purpose. It's all about saving cards to match other cards. There is also the above mentioned reserve stack which adds more strategy to the mix.

There is also the Ares card which forces players to battle over a Land Trophy card and also acts as an end game mechanic, drawing the game to a close when the six and final; Ares card appears.

I won't go too in-depth with the rules but if you are looking for a portable, easy to teach card game for two, Battlefields of Olympus could be that game.

The card artwork is great as is the quality of the cards. This game is open to expansions too.

One note, players looking for a lot of depth might be disappointed here. This game is on the lighter side, but still has enough meat to satisfy. Battlefields is not overly complex and serves as a good game to introduce to casual gamers. (Posted on 8/12/09)
