- Perfectly balanced board game, with multiple strategies and goals and a constantly updating game board makes Chaos in the Old World's perfect Review by TR

Chaos in the Old World's is an incredible board game. The four gods that you can play are all perfectly balanced against one another, with different play strategies and goals. While at first glance Khorne can seem a touch over-powered, the fact is that his lack of power points and his initial requirements for movements can make dealing with the god (and his player) easier.Value Quality Price
As with any FFG game, the production value is top-notch. The cards and board along with the advancement dials are well designed, and the creatures are all disgustingly horrible and perfect.
While best with 4 players, a 3 player game is still good. The only major hindrances from making Chaos in the Old World's the go to go game with my group is the lack of a 5 player option, the length of each game and the amount of time required to explain. Get past those points and it's a rollicking good game. (Posted on 5/17/10) - Amazing 4 Player game, although something is often missing on the 3 player games. Review by KJ

Chaos in the Old World is a unique game. In it, you take the reins of one of the more famed figures in gaming lore, The Gods of Chaos. (Of Warhammer Fantasy ahd Warhammer 40K fame)Price Value Quality
Slaanesh - God of Lust and Corruption. Nurgle - God of Rot and Disease. Tzeentch - God of Magic and Lore. And Khorne - The Blood God.
Each has a very unique play style compared to each other, and unique units that emphasize the differences between the gods play style. In the game, you neither work with, nor truly against each other player, tho temporary alliances and backstabs are possible, its a race against each other, and against the game itself, which is trying to defeat you in its own individual manner.
The board, pieces of the game, and even the card board popouts are very well done, with the map of the main board being the most spectacular. For those familiar with the Gods of Chaos, the whole game just oozes flavor and feel. The map, as an example, is actually a stretched and tattooed piece of human flesh, with the map carved / drawn on it, and stretched from hooks.
Each god has an army of followers which are represented by fairly high quality plastic pieces divided into 3 catagories, although each god has unique abilities and statistics. There are Acolytes, each have different names, but the same effect: Corrupt the land for the gods of chaos. There are warriors, who are essentially your martial arm, as well as The Greater Daemons, who have great powers and abilities, and can usually take down 2-4 warriors before death themselves. They have escalating power costs to summon, and have the most powerful abilities in the game.
Abilities themselves are unlocked as you progress your threatmeter by doing your gods unique advancement method. For Khorne, you kill your fellow players units, for Nurgle, you ruin zones, making them essentially uninhabitable areas for anything that isnt a demon or demon worshipper.
In summation, the pieces involved in the game are of a great quality, while the game mechanics ensure very few games are ever the game based on player style and luck. One game, Khorne can dominate, while in the next Slaanesh is the god to beat.
For 4 players, this is one of the best games on the market, and just slightly worse for 3 player games (Although a certain degree of panache is missing for 3 player games) (Posted on 9/16/09)
