I got a chance to play this at my local game group the other day and it turned out to be a lot of fun. I generally don't like auction games but the auctions in Amun Re are done in a way that is not as nail biting as other games (at least for me). There is strategic depth in the game but the rules are straight forward enough to be accessible to new gamers and there is enough luck to give everyone a chance (i.e. I was able to pull out the win ;-).
