- Hard to understand Review by KR

At a very cheap price I picked this expansion up. The quality of the tiles and the count piece are par with the base game and other expansions; however, the rules are very confusing and convoluted. I rarely every play with the actual count rules. I do, however, use this expansion as a starting point for the game. As this expansion comes with tiles that make up a large city (for the count) it works great as a starting point that adds some variety to the base game. Instead of starting off one tile you get to choose where from the big city you want to start. (Posted on 12/15/11)Price Value Quality - Yes it's cheap, but who cares? Review by Lane

Most the time, if I'm playing this expansion, it's just to use the city as a starting tile, and then I ignore the Count rules.Price Value Quality
The rules are just a little too complicated, but worse than that, they just seem to not fit in with the base game
Yes it's less than 10 bucks, but honestly, if you get this it will most likely be just to have the complete set (Posted on 9/21/10) - A difficult to learn expansion for everyone's favorite tile-laying game Review by Louis

The Count expansion for Carcassonne can be hard to appreciate. The price is right, and the quality of the components is on par with all other Carcassonne expansions - but the strategy changes so much that it's hard to like.Price Value Quality
It removes the starting tile and replaces it with a 4x3 city in which "The Count" figure resides. The Count rules add a whole lot of strategy to the game, by allowing you to give points to your opponent in order to allow you the option of placing a meeple at end game. Alternately, you can place the Count figure, which nullifies your opponent's end game meeple. Obviously, your opponent can do the same.
This expansion can be incredibly frustrating - it takes away from the simple tile laying strategy of Carcassonne, and can turn the game into a grudge match. I recommend it for people who like strategy, but otherwise skip this one and get a different expansion. (Posted on 7/29/10) - Least Played Expansion Review by Wasgo

As much as I love Carcasonne, and I love the expansions, I find that this particular expansion doesn't get played often. While many of the expansions change how the game is played, this one disrupts the core gameplay too much for me. While it certainly is a cheap expansion, money would be better spent on any of the other more expensive ones and skipping this cheap little addon. (Posted on 12/21/09)Price Value Quality
