Tons of fun for a good price. Review by KR

If you like the hiding type deduction game like Scotland Yard than chances are you'll like Nuns on the Run as it's got a similar feel to it. However, instead of many players trying to find one hiding character Nuns of the Run involves one or two players trying to find ever other player.

When playing the game you will either be playing as a novice (who are the hidden characters) or the abbess and/or prioress who's goal it is to find the novices. When playing as a novice you receive a card that tells you what your secret wish is. This secret wish is an object that your novice needs to find. In order to retrieved your object you must first make it to the spot on the board that has the key to the room where your object is. You than must make it the space with your secret wish object and than back to your room. You try to do this all while trying to keep your location hidden from the abbess or prioress. While the novices are able to move freely about on the board, the abbess and prioress must move on pre-selected paths; however, if they are to see you or hear you (determined by a dice roll) than they are able to run after you off of their paths.

I find that as a two player game it could be better and more exciting. A good player can make it to their key, objective and back to their room without being heard or seen once which makes the game for the abbess and prioress player very boring and dull. The true fun of Nuns on the Run shines when playing with more people and novices are being heard and seen almost every turn.

I love the style of this game and the components are all of pretty good quality. The board is particularly great with lots of detail. One thing you have to get used too and it can be somewhat tricky to teach new players is how the line of sight works. Overall though I think Nuns on the Run is a great game, especially when playing with bigger groups. (Posted on 4/4/12)
Good, silly fun Review by Murray

Nuns on the Run is a pretty fun game filled with the same kind of excitement you would get sneaking around teachers during an overnight school trip.

One or two players take on the roles of the Abbess and Prioress, who walks through a set route through the Abbey. All the other players play as the Apprentice nuns and their goal is to sneak out of their room, find the key that will open the room containing their secret wish, and then return back to their room.

In a way, it's like reverse Scotland Yard. Nuns mark their progress on a pad of paper. Nuns reveal whether they are running around, walking, or standing still. Depending on how they travel, they will make noise. After each movement, they must roll a die and apply the unwanted noise bonus to the roll. If the total puts them within hearing range of the Abbess or Prioress, then the player controlling the Mothers can move them off their set course and try to catch the Nuns.

Nuns that are caught must make their way back to their room, but can start sneaking off again as soon as they dare. However, if the mothers catches Nuns enough times, even if it's the same nun multiple times, then the game is over and the mothers win. Otherwise, the first nun to get back to their room with their secret wish wins.

This game is great because even if you mess up, you can still keep playing. However, because of this, some games can drag on for a bit. The players playing the Abbess and Prioress won't get much to do if the nun players are really good.

If you enjoy Fury of Dracula or Scotland yard or other chase/deduction type games, this is a good addition to your collection. (Posted on 4/16/10)
