- If you like Clue you will love this game, but.... Review by Austen

I have a love hate relationship with Mystery of the Abbey. You do get a lot of stuff with the game that does in a way justify the high price of this game, but I don't find that I want to play it enough to merit spending this much on it.Price Value Quality Price Value Quality
It is similar to clue in that you are trying to uncover a murder. It is more involved and complex than Clue, but there is still that random guess factor that kind of spoils the game for me in a way.
I am typically not a fan of games that come with pads in order to track things within the game as eventually you will need to print off more of them, but more importantly you need to hide your sheet from other players. In this game it is very important to keep track of everything that is going on and it is almost impossible to do so without these sheets.
As with all Days of Wonder games the components, board and artwork are all top notch. It is a beautiful game, and so to some I could see the Value of this game and price being rated higher.
Mystery of the Abbey is a game that I think the casual gamer who likes games with lots of interaction would enjoy. I think this game would be a perfect family game.
Our gaming group has this game within our collection and it is not a game that ever gets requested to play. The times it seems to come out is if we go over to our friends and there are 2-3 couples at dinner and we are looking for something to play after dinner that isn't too heavy that the non-gamers in the group can relate to.
