Nice easy little game that you can learn on your first play. This game is the epitome of promises that lead to back stabbing and then more back-stabbing. I have not played another game where being evil is what makes you win. It's a good way to get rid of unwelcome guests. Hard to play fully when couples are involved (they tend to band together and be less treasonous) (Posted on 1/13/12)

Intrigue is Diplomacy-lite. You'll backstab and betray everyone, but unlike Diplomacy, it's all because of the game. Each turn, players have to decide which bribe and scholars to take in and where to send their 2 scholars. And it's all up to the player, but since you might get more than 1 scholar knocking on your door, someone's going to get hurt.

With bribes paid before the decisions are made, and all bribes having to be paid immediately, there's never a guarantee you'll get your scholar in. Or for how long. The problem is, backstab too many people and you'll lose.

Overall, Intrigue is a fun, light and hilarious game but it's not one you'd want to play with people who take a game too seriously. The game is all about betrayal, so just be careful that those you play with can leave the game behind after its all packed away. (Posted on 3/25/09)
