- Very nice variant on the classic. Review by Louis

This is certainly without a doubt one of the best variations of Risk out there. Lets face it Risk is Risk... can get a bit chaotic and luck plays a big factor... But this almost feels like a completely different game. Just the amount of components and the quality involved in this game is worth the purchase.Value Quality Price
The game itself feels like a reinvention of the original. This is a great game to introduce new players to war games, or miniature games. Rules are easy to follow and players can pick up the flow very quickly.
I definitely recommend this game as well as the 2210 variant. Both excellent more traditional "Boardgames"

I love Risk and this is a neat variant on it. My favorite part of this game is the continent of Atlantis which is small, easily defended, and which gives a relatively high income, but which is at risk at any moment of being plunged into the ocean with all the armies on it.Price Value Quality
One of the new parts of the game is the underworld for dead soldiers. While this seems like an attractive idea, like the moon board in 2210, it is not that special. There are small benefits to be gained by controlling the underworld, but the truth is that they are not that great. Better to keep you soldiers alive and rule the real world. Personally I enjoy Risk 2210 a lot more. However, it is also great to have a different board to play on (Europe and North Africa) which requires brand new strategies. Godstorm brings a pretty neat twist to the Risk formula. The big difference is that, when your armies are defeated on the world map, they are moved to the underworld. Thus, players that are losing in the overworld can dominate in the underworld and then make their way back to the overworld with significant reinforcements.Price Value Quality
This opens up a lot of strategies as you actually can afford to spread out your troops a bit in the early part of the game and making the decision to retreat out of areas is actually workable.
There is an ok mixture of mythology involved as well, but the actual different gods themselves do not make much of a difference.
One of the better Risk re-themes and definitely one worth looking at if you are a fan of the series. (Posted on 2/18/10)
