- Stab others in the back Review by Brian

Things to know about this card game are that it is a game where you fight against monsters and traps to win the round by being the player to defeat the encounter. That is the game in a nutshell repeated several times. There are good and bad things about this game.Price Value Quality
The good, simultaneous card playing revealed in order of an initiative card drawn before is neat there are a few cards you can play after to thwart your opponent’s card which is good.
The bad is that there are too many restrictions on card play sometimes and you get bogged down in determining outcomes. It also seems that victories are skewed by who wins the final few rounds making the first half of the game almost useless. Cutthroat Caverns isn’t the cleanest when it comes to game play and could have used a little polishing before release. The game is fun to play once in a while but can get repetitive quickly.

In the popular mode of Munchkin and Intrigue, Cutthroat Caverns is a game of backstabbing and betrayal. Players take on the role of adventurers attempting to leave the dungeon after a successful adventure but must face 10 more monsters before they do so. The character that survives and comes out with the relic will be famous and all powerful.Price Value Quality
Unlike Munchkin, the players all face the same monster, all at the same time. So the backstabbing has to be more subtle, as killing off the other players too fast will end in your own death. Wait too long though and you might miss your chance entirely, or find a knife in your own back.
Cutthroat caverns is fun and light-hearted, a game for those who are willing to do a little backstabbing in their gaming group. (Posted on 3/25/09)
