Metropolys is a bidding game, in which players vie to development specific sites on the board. The game accommodates 2-4 players, but is best played with 4, as is the case with most bidding games.

Players are dealt 2 sets of cards with different objectives, and must develp based around those objectives. However, players can be outbid for their desired spaces, making the game both strategic and entertaining. Certain spaces contain special rewards, including the points for Metro tokens, and posh neighbourhoods, and the dreaded archieological site.

Metropolys is a fun game, no doubt about it. The only problem is that the game is very simple, and the components, while good, do not warrant $50. The MSRP is a bit stiff given the simplistic nature of the game. That said, it does provide hours of fun for the simple and moderate gamer, and is a good gateway into the auction/bidding genre.
