- Product Review (submitted on October 17, 2010):
- Tide of Iron has an incredible premise, squad based combat that moves beyond dice rolling and gives the player more control relying less on luck. The game does deliver on this promise, but not being a hardcore simulation gamer i found that the game was designed with too many set up turns and not enough action. Much slower than Risk, this game allows only 4 actions per turn in most scenarios, which leads to incredibly long games in which only 6 to 8 actions actually involve attacking or being attacked by the enemy. Im not sure what a really hardcore war gamer would rate this game, but being more into economic and strategy games this was not for me. Good quality pieces and extensive and easy to read manual were definite plusses.
