Product Description
Theme : Small World is a light, civilization building game where players vie for conquest and control of a world that is just simply too small to accommodate them all. Players in Small World will be able to choose from a variety of fantasy racing including dwarves, wizards, amazons, giants, orcs and humans.
Each race with their special abilities will attempt to take over new lands, rising in prominence before at last falling into decline. Players will have to decide when to push a race into decline, riding the next stalwart, vital fantasy race to conquest once more in Small World.
Gameplay: Small World comes with 14 different fantasy races, 20 unique special powers and 2 double-sided boards to fit two to five players into the thematically 'small world' for Days of Wonder. At the beginning of the game, players will have to choose from one of the 6 available fantasy races, each race having a random new unique power.
Unique powers in Small World include Pillaging (1 victory point for each conquered, occupied territory) and Flying (the ability to attack anywhere on the board instead of just adjacent to occupied territories); and combined with the races unique abilities provides a constantly evolving game. Each race and unique special power set will provide between 5 to 13 race tokens, representing the armies of the new race.
Once chosen; the new races go out to conquer the Small World, battling other opponents and lost tribes and navigating terrain features. At the end of their turn, players will gain victory points equal to the territories they own; both for their active race and their declined race.
Battles in Small World are very easy to complete with new territories occupied at a cost of 2 race tokens and any opposing armies and difficult terrain. However, a defending army permanently loses an army token, slowly pushing new races into decline.
A fast, easy-to-learn family game, Small World comes with great graphics, a series of modular boards, a well written rulebook and well designed box that will be sure to become a family favorite.
