Product Description
Theme: Rule over a galactic empire in Twilight Imperium as one of 10 races. An epic game of galactic exploration, development and conquest, Twilight Imperium is the game for players looking for an immersive space exploration game. You'll explore worlds, play politics, develop your technology and culture and lock in deep space combat against multiple opponents in Fantasy Flight's classic game.
The third edition of Twilight Imperium comes with new design features, faster gameplay, more interaction and less 'downtime'. This over-sized box includes over 200 detailed miniatures, new cards, rules for the civilisations of the Imperium and a complete graphics overhaul. This is the ultimate Twilight Imperium collection and true value for money.
Gameplay: In Twilight Imperium (3rd Edition), players are in control of an alien race in an attempt to expand their galactic empire. Each race has their own special ability, technology tree and starting planet. In the official rules, the map is created through a random set-up that is influenced by the players. Of course numerous variants, both official and fan have arisen since its launch.
Twilight Imperium's uses the same turn mechanic as Puerto Rico, with players choosing a role each round. The player who chose the role gains the primary benefit of the role while all other players may choose to spend 'strategy counters' to make use of the secondary power of the role.
All other actions in the game are influenced by the spending of the 'strategy counters' to activate systems and to move your fleet. Players may adjust their allocation of their strategy counters at the end of each turn to provide even greater control of the game.
There are numerous paths to victory, from diplomacy to war with combat in Twilight Imperium resolved through the use of dice rolls between opposing fleets. However, to control a galaxy, players must use ground troops to take over the planets.
Balancing the development of international politics, your technological progress, trade and military development is one of the key points of Twilight Imperium, with players who fail to do so properly falling behind.
The overall goal of Twilight Imperium is to gain 10 Victory Points, which are garnered from the role cards and the completion of the game objectives.
