War of the Ring : Battles of the Third Age

Theme : War of the Ring : Battles of the Third Age is the first expansion to the best-selling War of the Ring game. The Battles of the Third Age game adds new rules, new factions, new characters, siege engines and new cards to the game.

In addition to that, the Battles of the Third Age also add a new 'Battles' scenario to the game, including Rohan and Gondor. Players can play these scenarios using the components of the base game in a stand-alone series of games that adds immense replay value to this board game.

Gameplay : War of the Ring - Battles of the Third Age is in fact two games in one expansion. The expansion to the base game adds new characters such as the Hunting Witch King, the Balrog and Galadriel. In addition, Siege Engines are added as a new component to the battles. New Factions also introduced include the Ents, Corsairs and Dunlendings. Lastly, a series of extra cards to deal with obsolete cards due to the new factions introduced and introducing new abilities for players.

In the Battles of the Third Age secondary game, players are able to take part in a variety of 'Battles' that are separate games. These Battles take place on a new gameboard that depict Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith. Now, players fight on a more tactical level, able to move their armies more quickly and with new win scenarios depending on the specific game.
